Wow! There's so much I want to say to this and it's difficult to gather all the thoughts. I don't think I've personally read anything quite like this? The idea of having this evil lineage in your blood and being able to break that, to push for change, the bravery that Nino showed in going along with those schemes in order to enact his own secret purpose! It was all incredibly gripping. Dark and eerie, yes, but that hope everyone had! The glimmer of something they saw in Nino, I appreciated that throughout the story.

I know in your note you mention that Ohmiya is sort of a late appearance, but I feel like I just want to focus on them because of how amazing I thought their story was! First of all - stubborn Ohno is a beautiful, real thing. Secondly, I kind of love you have the ones we know cry in Arashi as the water gods? Okay I'm definitely getting jumbled here, but! Nino and Ohno! The way they spoke to one another, the instant pull they had toward one another, I had stars in my eyes. Nino trying to stop him from that first kiss because he knew he had power over Ohno, and the way Ohno placed enough trust in Nino to go for it anyway! Guh. So romantic.

But what I think I care about most is that you let each character have independent motives, feelings, goals, and so on. Nino and Ohno love each other, it's indisputable, but that doesn't mean they're going to agree on everything. Or that Ohno's love should force him to sacrifice the revenge that is so important to him as an individual. Seeing the different threads of the story play out based on the characters and not the theme, I guess? I'm not sure how to word what I'm thinking/reacting to here but I just recognize that the plot was uniquely driven.

The ending! Of course I'm stupidly happy about the ending. After everything they went through, I can't think of anything better. Even knowing Ohno isn't going to just sit around at home all the time LOL His excitement over being mortal, SO CUTE.

Um um ummm I am sure there are so many other things I could touch on. Sho and Jun's history we got glimpses of, I really enjoyed that, and how clearly they had a path to bettering the kingdom together once Nino accomplished his task. Aiba ♥ As precious in this story as he is in RL. LOL. I love the idea of him not going home, but rather helping all those people - especially since he'd had a chance to travel and see for himself the suffering. He WOULD think of others, bless him.

The magic of words! The weight of them. So interesting. Really, anon, this was a powerful story and one I was very relieved to see end on a high note. WONDERFUL WORK. ♥
