Honestly, I had no idea how much I wanted this AU to happen until I read this! You did an immensely well job with building this whole world and I really love how you did that! It's like diving into a set world right there from the beginning and that's something not everybody can create. I was even feeling hot and damp while reading this, imagining how freaking how it must be in that desert (you must know that I'm extremely bad with heat) so congrats for conveying that feeling too xD I also appreciated those elements of story-telling you incorporated like letting space for imagination when possible (it made everything feel even bigger, I like that!) or that you started three times with the situation of Nino waking up to his sweaty neck in the exact same words. I really enjoy noticing such things when reading stories so I always appreciate if writers put that much thought into their work to not only tell a good story but also tell a story very well.
On to some details, I really love how you described Nino in this story, it feels so much like him, it's amazing! I don't need to list the details about what a good job you did here, I think. He's simply perfect the way you portrayed him. Thank you for this!
You did a great job with our three superheroes here too, I really like their descriptions and how you let their characters shine through. Ohno, the not-so-obvious leader is just great, I love how little he needs to say but how much his presence actually means. Very cool! (Btw from those three Mets characters, Big-No is my favourite so I really enjoyed him in this fic ^^) Aiba is just so cute and lovely, I just love him and how he accompanies and befriends Nino through the time they meeet. Jun - well that was also a pretty cool description of him. The flirting really fit him and I like how he plays with Nino but is serious at the same time.
You must now that I'm not really a Matsumiya-shipper, but with this character constellation the couple worked surprisingly well for me in this story, so kudos to making them work for me, that's also something not everybody can do! I'm really glad I gave the story a chance because I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed the flirting between Nino and Jun and I especially liked how they keep touching their hands (I think I have a kink for "holding hands" XD LOL). Their "private time" was nice to read too.
Also, I am very fond of the Sakumiya friendship here. It was not in the centre of the story but it gave the whole thing such a solid base, that's really appreciated. I especially loved the small details about Sho we got to know through Nino's perspective, like how he loves eating and making plans. I admit, it made my undeniable Sakumiyaheart beat a little too fast maybe in some scenes XD Anyway, their friendship and support for each other is just adorable. I'm happy they stay together in the end, it would have broken my heart if they got separated.
The ending is perfect. I would have been surprised if Nino would have gone with them right away, it just wouldn't have fit his character, I think. Despite not having the best life, he's reluctant to leave behind what he has. Change isn't an easy thing and for that I think he went through a lot of change already from the beginning and I'm sure he just needed to prepare a little longer (and do whatever Ryoko wanted him to do, I guess they were happy to have a technically gifted person around) to be ready to go. Because I'm convinced, this time, he (and Sho) won't stay back again, right?
In conclusion, thank you very much for creating this story, you did a really good job, anon! <3
