Ngl as soon as I saw which prompt you went with, I was like "Oh what a day, what a lovely day!" I'm really happy you went with this because I've been asking for it since last year. Kirin Mets Men has to be my favorite Arashi campaign, with MJ-II being second only to Jun in Cbtm 2015 as one of my favorite Juns.
Okay so I'm still overwhelmed since I just finished reading but I really like how the Sakumiya in this just worked without a lot of history. I like how they were always there for one another, how Nino did things with Sho and Sho's independence in mind. I like how they have this unspoken dedication with one another, that when I reached that part in the climax I just knew how it'd go.
That said, I really like how you inserted Kirin's universe in this. :D I do find that background story a bit hilarious with all the thirsty people, but it surprisingly works here despite all the biker gangs tossed in. Mad Max had a lot of heavy themes, and I'm still in awe with how you managed to combine that with the silliness of three desert superheroes.
Your description of MJ-II is on-point; I always wanted to see him featured in more fics because I know I'll never get tired of reading about how a writer describes his costume, his general cockiness, his overconfidence. It's more fun reading about it in Nino's perspective, because I can totally understand how he finds all of it to be ridiculous but hot. I also like how Nino just took a liking to Aiba after letting him talk; I'll always remember that Nino quote re: Aiba being actually shy.
The one moment with Ohno being leader was amazing; as I was reading I just kept wondering when would I get to see Ohno shine in Nino's eyes and there he was. :D
I enjoyed all the flirting in this story, probably because I kept imagining MJ-II flirting with a nonbeliever in his abilities LMAO. Must have been a setback for the guy. But I'm glad Jun was persistent but not pushy, and that he also gave Nino the space Nino seemed to require for a couple of times in this fic.
I'm also really happy that they waited for privacy (or the closest semblance to it, I guess) before they went on and upped the rating LOL. Also I'm still cracking about Jun having condoms and lube somewhere in his belt—thanks, utility belt! Ngl I also enjoyed reading about Jun getting head in the cockpit, probably because I was imagining Nino kneeling between thick purple thighs encased in leather straps. ;)
I think you gave me a very realistic ending given the scenario that they were in, and Sho's loyalty just made me feel a bit too much for him and Nino's friendship. But I'm very happy Jun respected Nino's decision, and that Nino went through with what he decided despite having mixed emotions about it. I think it's rare to see Nino having the conviction to go on his own way in fics; I mean, the ideal ending would have been Arashi in a spaceship but I think I would have felt it would be a bit of a cop out had you gone that way? I like realism in stories that are rich in fantasy (this was a desert and a space AU in one amazing ride), and a grounded Nino was a really good core for that to work. I'm honestly glad he did what he felt was right to do; it's so in line with how I perceive Nino to be.
That said, I'm also a bit of a sap so I'm pleased with purple thighs returning when there wasn't anything that no longer ties Nino down. I think they'd get their happy ending somewhere in space, and I do like not knowing how; I think it's a proof of a great story if the writer can leave me imagining only good things for the characters at the end of it.
Tl:dr; I was legit ecstatic on twitter as soon as I saw this, and it didn't disappoint! :) I think I also know who you are LMAO, and if you're wondering what gave you away, I'd say it's the care you put in making sure Sho was part of the story, knowing how much I adore him. Thank you for the great fic, and I'm really happy I started with this because this is the best kickstart to Nino Ex this year. :D
