Okay let's try this ;) I might be a bit all over the place though, so I apologize for that in advance (please forgive me?)
I loved Nino waking up swearing up a storm (his poor mother though xD) and then realising that Jun shares a bed with him hugging a camouflage jacket that of course belongs to Sho XD (and I love the fact that he is denying it all the time and insults the fashion sense of his beloved Sho, even if secretly he loves it) They both are adorable being so much hangover btw.
In the beginning, I was slightly annoyed by Nino’s mother, tbh. So much nagging and trying to put him into a relationship he clearly doesn’t want to is something I shudder to imagine in real life. Parents shouldn’t have much of a say in relationships of their children after all… But she got better over the course of the story and at least knew how to nudge her son in the right direction even if she was bothersome at times XD But then again, without her Nino wouldn’t have to lie about dating Ohno and start all this fake dating glory (I was so delighted with how easily Ohno accepted even if I was worried ><)
Ohno#s and Nino’s relationship was so so perfect… Nino trusts Ohno so much, and Ohno is so easy to be with, at least it seems like he is. I really liked how they talked to each other and were behaving around each other in general. Especially Ohno is so so warm and gentle to Nino. Nino is really stupid and blind not to see that Ohno honestly loves him (especially with that beautiful picture he got. I mean honestly Nino. Don’t be so drunk that you forget the important bits and hurt others!)
But hey at least Ohno worked his magic with Nino and made him see how much he loves him truly and real and that he wouldn’t be happy if they wouldn’t get together like right away honestly because they are kind of perfect together. Ohno is luckily stubborn as well, and I loved his small jealous acts around Akihiro and very clearly showing him that Nino belongs to him. I loved it! I kinda hated Akihiro though xD how dare he to flirt with someone who very clearly has a boyfriend? Tse not good at all (mainly because he had to realise how uncomfortable Nino was about the flirting as well!! So not a good move on his side at all)
I loved Kazuko! I love them with children, and that little girl was such a cute one. And I love how all of them like/love Ohno and Nino realises how hard it will be to stop pretending they are boyfriends XD (And the bit with Kiiro ;_; I felt so sorry for her, but Ohno is the hero of the day drawing that perfect portrait of a fish for her. That was such a cute scene. I wanted to read more about all three of them honestly.)
The cooking competition was fun. Nino is always so pretty and concentrated when he cooks and with Ohno together… they are always adorable together in the kitchen. Ohno trying everything they made and smiling happily… I can just see it in front of my eyes and smile at that imagination.
Then Jun, Sho and Aiba. They are such great friends always helping them out and making sure they are okay and not hurt and don’t deny themselves their happiness. I really liked how supportive they were throughout (I laughed at the bit with them putting Jun in the front row so that Nino and Ohno get the public votes)
Oh man, the end… Of course, the panic that they would be too late to tell the other party that they love them is kind of cliche… but it’s still good. The rush, the fear, the swearing because everything is just wrong and then in the end standing there and thinking they are too late, but somehow the other person is still there (it fits so much that Ohno just forgets to tell them that he doesn’t have to go and is confused when people ask him why he is there or if he needs a ride… Little air-headed man)
Oh, did I mention how I liked the tiny mentions? The small bits? Nino trying to decide if he loves Ohno and remembering things that happened and decided not to love him, him teasing Jun and Jun being utterly confused, Sho not understanding anything about Jun and Aiba just in the middle, meddling here and there and just being the sunshine he usually is. The way Nino slowly but surely falls deeply for Ohno is written beautifully, and throughout the story, you just know how Ohno feels without it being spelt out until close to the end but still you can see it in the small gestures in how he talks to Nino and how worried Sho is about him the whole time. And then everybody knows that Ohno loves Nino (but Nino of course) and everybody knows that Nino loves Ohno (But Nino again, I’m pretty sure Ohno has a good idea about how much Nino loves him actually). I want to shake Nino so badly, but it only makes the end and him understanding everything so much more worth it (and really Nino, just look at such a thing like a napkin If you stuff it in your pocket. It has a meaning typically if you put stuff in your pocket that seems to be useless or trash!)
Then again… I like the small details you put in, how the light was, strawberries on cheesecakes, warm tea and such things (I don’t know if I make sense, but I hope you’ll get what I mean) those make stories just more alive more perfect for me. Also, never for even a second, I thought Nino would choose the money over Ohno XD but it made me laugh nonetheless. Thank you again for this story. I loved it deeply, and I don’t think my comment does it justice, so I’m sorry for this. I can read it again and again and never get bored with it, I guess. It just makes me all warm and tingly feeling <3 So yeah, you made me really happy with choosing this prompt and how you’ve written it.
